Celeste’s Story
In the fall of 2004 we sold
our beautiful property in the mountains of Burnsville, North Carolina, and
moved to sunny Florida. This move was not something we anticipated neither
had desired in the past.
My health had
begun to deteriorate and at that time I could barely move my body.
My whole body was
hurting, from my neck to my legs. It seemed as if all my bones were hurting.
My feet were grossly swollen and purplish from inactivity. Any time I got up
to walk I would suffer very painful spasms on the inside of my thighs. After
a few steps it would get more bearable. Any time a person happened to bump
me accidentally I would get a spasm which made me lose my balance and I
would begin to go down to the floor. Sitting was very painful as well. The
most humiliating part was that I lost bladder control and many times needed
assistance going to the bathroom, and many other things.
My leg muscles
did not seem to respond when I needed to use them. I could not walk up steps
without struggling, and to get in the car I had to pick up my legs with my
hands. I had also lost two inches of stature, and acquired what is called
dowager’s hump. Nothing could be more humiliating or embarrassing to a 37
year old.
My husband, in
fear of losing me, decided to move to a warmer climate, in hope that perhaps
it would be of help. We quickly sold our house and moved.
It was nice to
see everything green and hear the birds singing. That gave me a new desire
to live. There were many nights when I prayed: “Lord, why don’t I die now
and get it over with”, after all, I did not consider that painful existence,
life.
I seemed to make
some improvement, but very minor. I could take a shower with holding onto
the walls to steady myself, but I still had a lot of pain, I had to turn
very slowly when in bed, and still walked very slowly, dragging my right
foot and leaning on my cane- I could not walk without it.
After five months
we bought a house. I could not walk through our backyard; it was too painful
and exhausting.
Every morning,
while still in bed, I would ask the Lord to please give me the energy to get
up and take care of my children. He miraculously gave me the strength to do
my work, even though it was very limited and many times I needed help.
We visited a
doctor friend of ours, and he commented that my case is very advanced,
because my chest bone is also protruding. I lost two additional inches
since moving to Florida. That causes me a lot of trouble breathing, due to
the limited space in my thorax.
A good friend
lent me a chi machine, and that helped a little bit, but I still was limited
to my cane.
I must mention
that I have tried to live a very health lifestyle, have been a vegan since
the age of twenty-five. Our diet is about 95% organic; we do not eat
processed food. For about four years I have been drinking a quart of fresh
carrot and green juices daily, took a superfood for a while and followed a
living foods diet, juiced fresh wheatgrass, and ate a generous amount of
fresh sprouts. With all this dietary regime, I should have been a very
healthy person.
A few months ago,
some friends of ours began calling us periodically to tell us about
Vibe. At first I was very annoyed and did not want to

closet. I no longer suffer from incontinence or nervousness. I can now do
aerobics without losing balance, and can cross my legs without any pain or
extraordinary effort. I found myself jumping up from sitting because it felt
so good to move again. I now have energy and life is beautiful again.
